NCPG Promotes Problem Gambling Awareness Month this March

by Global Payments Gaming Team / March 18, 2022

The recent success of commercial gaming has been unprecedented. In 2021, the commercial gaming industry achieved its highest ever annual revenue of $53 billion. While this success has been an encouraging sign for commercial gaming professionals, it has also raised some concern about responsible gaming habits. Regulators, interest groups and industry members alike believe that raising awareness of responsible gaming practices is important in maintaining an informed and safe public.

This March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM), founded and organized by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG). Since 2014, PGAM has spread awareness of problem gambling and advocated for people and families affected by problem gambling. This year’s PGAM theme is “Awareness + Action”: increasing awareness and encouraging healthcare providers to screen for problem gambling.

Global Payments Gaming Solutions is committed to promoting responsible gaming and is a proud partner of the NCPG. This September, Global Payments became a NCPG platinum member, the highest tier of NCPG membership.

Global Payments Gaming Solutions also promotes responsible gaming with the initiatives it supports. Global Payments is a proud partner of the American Gaming Association’s Have a Game Plan.® Bet Responsibly.™ responsible gaming initiative. The Have a Game Plan initiative provides tips and principles for engaging in safe, responsible and fun play. Have a Game Plan also promotes resources that help individuals recover from problem gambling.

Additionally, Global Payments incorporates responsible gaming measures into its products. Global Payments implements cooling-off periods so patrons do not spend too much money at once. Patrons can also utilize configurable pre-set spending limits, enabling them to stay on budget with ease. People can also opt out of service through voluntary self-exclusion in case gambling becomes an issue.

PGAM is a chance to step back and do good for the entire industry. It’s a chance for industry members to educate the public and promote safe, responsible and enjoyable gaming, and Global Payments Gaming Solutions is doing its part this March.
